Christie Lake Kids welcomed supporters, volunteers, staff, and Board members to our Annual General Meeting taking place earlier this month, where we reflected on another incredible year of empowering children and youth to build skills, confidence, and brighter futures.

The AGM provided an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of the past year, review our Annual Report, approve our audited financial statements, and recognize the many individuals who make our mission possible.

One of the highlights of the evening was hearing from Sierra, a participant in our Leaders in Training program. Sierra shared her personal journey with Christie Lake Kids and spoke about the impact the organization has had on her life as she prepares to graduate from high school this year. Sierra thanked her mentor, Tyler for his support and guidance.

Through her involvement in our programs, Sierra has developed leadership skills, built confidence, and discovered new opportunities for her future. She also shared her excitement about receiving a Christie Lake Kids Scholarship to support her post-secondary education.

Her story was a powerful reminder of why Christie Lake Kids exists: to help children and youth overcome barriers, discover their potential, and pursue their dreams.

“We often talk about the impact of our programs, but hearing directly from a young person whose life has been changed through those experiences is incredibly meaningful,” said Peter Melanson, Past Chair of the Board. “Sierra’s determination, leadership, and commitment to her future are an inspiration to all of us.”

Throughout the evening, attendees also celebrated the dedication of our volunteers, staff, donors, corporate partners, and Board members whose support makes our work possible. Together, they help ensure that children and youth from low-income households have access to no-cost programs that build skills, foster belonging, and create opportunities for success.

The organization especially wants to thank Peter Melanson for his contributions to Christie Lake Kids over the years. Peter joined as a Board Member before serving a term as Board Chair and has been on the Board for nearly 10 years. Peter turned over the reigns to our new Board Chair, Wes Richardson (who previously served as Board Treasurer).

As we look ahead to another year, Christie Lake Kids remains committed to expanding our impact and saying “yes” to more children and youth who need our support.

Congratulations, Sierra, on your graduation, scholarship, and all that lies ahead. We can’t wait to see what your future holds.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at our Annual General Meeting and for helping us continue to build skills and empower lives.
