Explore our approach

  • Christie Lake Kids is 100% local.
  • We’ve been in operation for 100 years.
  • We exclusively serve children and youth from low income households.*
  • There is no cost for kids to partake in our programs.
  • They register to attend our programs, they don’t drop-in.
  • We serve kids ranging in age from 6-17 years old for as long as they live below the low income measure, so many children and youth remain in our programs year over year, creating long-term connections.
  • Christie Lake Kids doesn’t ask children to travel to participate, rather we go to them! STAR (skills through art and recreation) programs rollout in community spaces, recreation centres, etc. in targeted/high priority low income neighborhoods.
  • We ensure high ratios of participant from staff and volunteers who play a critical role in the success of our programs.
  • Our after school programs include art, basketball, aikido, leadership training and so much more.
  • We also offer summer camp at our beautiful 88 acre property just outside of Perth.
  • When a child misses attending a program, Christie Lake Kids will call their parent or guardian to learn why – helping kids to stay engaged it’s a key differentiator at CLK.
  • We include a meal or access to healthy snacks at every program.
